Who? Peter Gabriel
What’s the story? It's been 14 years since Peter Gabriel's last studio album of original material, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been busy. Involved in the covers project Scratch My Back... And I'll Scratch Yours as well as re-intrepreting some of his old songs on 2011's New Blood, he also celebrated the 30th anniversary of his all-conquering So album with several world tours. But still, fans everywhere are hoping this is the year that he'll unveil a record of new songs, and out of nowhere, he's released this track, which he reveals that he wrote, "a few years back... which was, in part, inspired by Muhammad Ali’s life and struggles and at the time of his death, when so many people are celebrating his life and thinking about all he achieved, it seemed the right time to release it." Naturally, it's incredibly well-produced, with Gabriel's trademark sonic flourishes and some seriously meaty drums, before breaking down into a luxurious middle section then kicking back in. In fact, it's reminiscent of Big Time, from the So album - could another huge pop-esque record be on the way? We'll soon see.
