Who? The 1975
What’s the story? Manchester 4-piece The 1975 are in the rather strange position of being a huge band that lots of people have never heard of, massively successful without ever really having had a hit single. Enormous with teenagers, selling out venues across the world, yet somewhat dismissed by a lot of the 'serious' press (not really an issue in these social media times), their second album (with the none-more-emo title of I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It) is a huge chance for them to break out into the wider consciousness. This first track, Love Me, should, at the very least, immediately grab the attention of forty-somethings everywhere, sounding like Peter Gabriel's Big Time meets David Bowie's Fame, with a large dollop of INXS thrown in for good measure. Frankly, it's a little mad, but it doesn't sound like anything else out there right now and is a move on from their first album. A highly intriguing first taste of their new direction.
