Meet the child killer in these creepy trailers for season 2 of Netflix’s ‘The Sinner'
One of the finest crime dramas around is coming back
What started as a pleasant family day on the beach, as fans of The Sinner will know, ended in a bloody murder – and an excellent season of twists, turns and gritty sleuthing ensued.
The first season became 2017’s highest-rated new show on cable, and was nominated for multiple Golden Globes. The Guardian called it “satisfying and horrible”, admiring how “a more traditional show would turn the relationship between Biel and Pullman into a cat and mouse, but that isn’t really the case here. The mouse is splayed out on the floor begging to be eaten and the cat can’t understand why.”
And, executive produced by Jessica Biel, the second season will follow Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) who returns to his hometown in rural New York to assess an unsettling and heart wrenching crime – parents murdered by their 11-year-old son (Elisha Henig), with no apparent motive.
As Ambrose realizes there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown. He’s pitted against those who’ll stop at nothing to protect its secrets – and the mysterious Vera (Carrie Coon) who proves to be a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle.
We’ve now also got the first trailers for the second season – all compiled into one handy video below:

So what can we work out from these creepy trailers?
1. As in the first season, it looks like we already know who the killer already is – the 11-year-old child. But no doubt we’ll spend the next season on a journey to discover exactly why he did it.
2. Detective Ambrose looks just as brooding in these trailers so hopefully we’ll dig deeper into his background and find out more about the addictions and sexual fetishes we glimpsed at in season one.
3. What the hell is up with the girl with stones on her eyes? That’s just fucking freaky. I guess we should prepare for another dark, dark season to come.
Season 2 will be released in America on August 1 and should be coming to the UK soon after
