We're going to be honest with you. We didn't know it was National Hamburger Month over in the US. Firstly because we're based in the UK and secondly because, every month is burger month here at ShortList.
While this might mean that our waistlines are ever expanding, it also means that we have an insatiable appetite for burger-related innovations.
To celebrate the patty-worshipping month of May, New York eaterie Serendipity 3 have created the world's most expensive burger. Yes, we know what you're thinking and yes, it has been done before but yes, this one really is it. It's been certified by Guinness World Records and everything.
It's made from white truffle butter-infused Wagyu beef and topped with James Montgomery cheddar cheese, black truffles and a fried quail egg. It's served on a gold-dusted roll with white truffle butter and that's then topped with a blini, creme fraiche and caviar.
If that doesn't sound unnecessary enough then it also comes with a solid gold, diamond-encrusted toothpick. You know, just because. The burger will set you back a tidy $295.00 (£186.52), meaning you might need to make it last for a couple of weeks.
If you happen to be in New York in the coming weeks, you'll need to give them 48 hours notice if you want to try one. That should give you enough time to sell your TV for the cash.
