Ghost town for sale!
Sure, it sounds like the opening of a Stephen King novel - for all we know the pen wizard might be settling down at his well-worn desk to start a draft on the idea as we type - but the five-acre US town of Cabin Creek Colorado is up for sale right bloody now on Craigslist. Because you can buy anything on the internet if you look hard enough.
The fixer-upper project of one James Johnson, he's helped restore the electrics, water, plumbing and security of the 'town', but now wants to head off travelling.
It's got nothing to do with the fact that the town hasn't been able to attract much business since a couple who owned the plot were murdered in the seventies by some travellers they took in. Not one bit.
Here's what $350,000- (£265,000) worth of Ghost Town gets you.
A house
Two bedrooms, a bath house, and a laundry room.
There's also a private shooting range (DON'T MENTION THE MURDERS) and 500 feet of 'highway frontage', from which you'll be attracting customers to your varied businesses.
Commercial Zoned Shop
To help bring the cash in, you get a gas station (with working pumps) and a 3,300sqft repair stop - that has previously been used as a cinema theatre.
There are toilets, an office and a 2,200sqft shop.
Café
Sure, it might look like the setting of a True Detective murder scene, but this is actually a full café with kitchen, underground cold storage room, meat smoking area and three bedrooms in the basement.
Don't ask why there are three bedrooms in the basement. Best just nod and move on.
Motel
There's also an eight unit concrete block motel construction - complete with neon sign.
Neon sign! Cool right?
