There's Going To Be Another Nightmare On Elm Street Reboot
Freddy Krueger just will not die.
Having clawed his way through eight films between 1984's classic original and 2003's lamentable Freddy vs Jason, we thought the devilish creation of Wes Craven had breathed his last. Then there was a 2010 reboot, which was a nightmare on every level imaginable.
Not content with the efforts of 2010, New Line Cinema is apparently looking to restart the franchise for a third time, with The Tracking Board receiving word that Walking Dead and Orphan writer David Leslie Johnson has been employed to start on the new script.
Details are scant on what form the latest reboot will take - whether Johnson will attempt to modernise Wes Craven's original story with "gritty realism", or if he'll change things up entirely. Perhaps Krueger could be reimagined as a female villain? Or slash through the dreams of anti-western terrorists as the US government get Krueger to work for us.
We'll bring you word on casting and the director choice as soon as it surfaces. Until then, we maintain the futile hope that this is all a dream...
