These are the best songs to wake up to (according to a psychologist)
Get yourself going with these tunes
"Waking up and getting up has never been easy, Oh oh, I think you should know" sang Justine Frischmann of Elastica back in 1995, and they're right: it's not easy.
Then they also told us to "Make a cup of tea, and put a record on", and they were right about that too.
But which record? How does one get one's day off to a tremendous start?
Well, streaming giant Spotify is here to help, teaming up with psychology PhD candidate David M Greenberg to compile the perfect playlist for getting going in the morning.
The secret of a good morning song is, apparently, that it builds slowly, sends a positive message and has a strong beat. Simple.
Here is what they've come up with:
SpotifyHmmm. The first four we can get on board with but, unless you're keen to garrote someone today, then we'd probably advise giving Avicii's Wake Me Up (country music and EDM never needed to be combined) and Sam Smith's Money on my Mind (if you want a screeching chorus vocal, just kick your cat) a miss. And if limp, built-for-an-advert cover versions of disco classics makes your blood boil, then probably avoid Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) as well.
In fact, why not choose our very own bespoke playlist instead? You can thank us later once you've been ultra-productive with your day.
