It's not standard practice for hit films to have genuinely great TV sequels so when This Is England '86 landed on our screens earlier this year, it was a pleasantly dark surprise.
But Shane Meadows isn't happy to leave it at just the 80s. Plans have just been announced for a third instalment to what is fast becoming the This Is England franchise.
This Is England '90 will continue to follow Shaun, Woody, Lol and Milky as they encounter rave culture and the Italian World Cup. The exact date hasn't been confirmed yet but Shane Meadows dropped hints to The Independent on what to expect in an interview earlier this year.
"The next really big turning point in my life was 1990, with the Hacienda, the rave, The Stone Roses, ecstasy, the whole shambolic thing," he said. "I'd seen a lot of friends get into heroin off the back of that, so in a kind of way, Shaun's journey, if there is to be a second series, will continue in 1990."
Rumours suggest that it may run and run, four years at a time. Hopefully we'll get to see Lol finally work out why her name is so 'hilarious' in 2010.
