This parody book trolling the US Vice President about his ‘gay bunny’ is now outselling the original
This is some expert-level trolling
As terrifying as Donald Trump is, his second-in-command Mike Pence is even scarier. In the past he’s been linked to support for gay ‘conversion therapy’ and as Governor of Indiana he signed that state’s ‘Religious Freedom Restoration Act,’ which gives legal protections to businesses who discriminate against LGBT people on religious grounds.
Now, late night talk show host John Oliver has done his civic duty to take the piss out of this insidious political figure by releasing a parody book to troll one released by the Vice President’s family about their pet rabbit – and, hilariously, it’s now outselling the original.
The book ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo’ was strategically released by the British late-night TV host a day before ‘Marlon Bundo’s A Day in the Life of the Vice President,’ which was written by Pence’s daughter Charlotte and illustrated by his wife, Karen, according to The Guardian.
After just two days, Oliver’s Marlon Bundo had sold 180,000 copies on Amazon and become the bestselling book on the site, outperforming the Pence version.
While the Pence version tells the story of Marlon Bundo following his master around for a day, Oliver’s version – written by comedian and staff writer Jill Twiss – is about “a lonely bunny who lives with his grampa, the vice-president of the United States” who one day “falls in love with another boy bunny”.
All the proceeds from the parody book will go to Aids United and the LGBTQ charity the Trevor Project.
This is some expert-level trolling and to the team behind this book: WE SALUTE YOU!
