The Apple Watch has the amazing ability to change one's emotions. Shortly after purchasing the device, users report an overwhelming sensation of disappointment at having spent £500 on a gadget that doesn't really do anything useful.
They might want to get themselves a Doppel band to help lift the mood.
This watch-like wearable doesn't tell the time, but rather claims to change your mood through a subtle vibrating 'pulse'. Attached to the underside of your wrist, Doppel harnesses an innate human response to rhythm - similar to when you listen to your favourite dance track or hear a strong beat. With a fast pace, the 'Doppel effect' can lift your mood, making you more alert, while slowing it can help you relax.
Designed by a team of engineers, designers and scientists from Team Turquoise, the Doppel has a range of features for calming or raising your emotions: by connecting to an accompanying smartphone app, you can adjust the settings to compliment your resting heart rate. While setting a lower pulse to help calm you and a faster pulse to make you more alert.
Independent studies by experts from Royal Holloway, University of London, have confirmed that the Doppel can help people improve their focus and reaction times.
The rhythm of the Doppel band can be set by interacting with its face, stroking it to slow the beat, squeezing it to raise it and rotating its dial to increase or decrease the intensity of its vibrations. You can then set the perfect pulses for various moods, from relaxing to running, sleeping to focusing.
The battery life can endure five hours of "intense" use - such as motivating you through a five-hour run - with usage increasing to 10 hours at a more average intensity.
Available in three styles, you can currently pick up a Doppel band for £70 via Team Turquoise's Kickstarter project. You'll need to figure out a way of keeping calm for now though - the first models aren't due until April 2016.
