Woolrich was the brand of choice for Antarctic expeditions facing icy conditions nearly a century ago.
And given that technological advances have increased its signature plaid wool’s durability, made it water-repellent and given it impressive heat retention, it certainly seems fit to line your boots.
Timberland agrees, and has chosen it to line a new re-issue of a selection of its classic boots, two of which will be available in the UK — the 6in premium silhouette (£140) and the roll-top (pictured, £150). Each pair of boots will be available in three different checks — Wheat, Tundra and Jet Black — and they’ll be constructed in full-grain leather, using Timberland’s direct-attach, seam-sealed waterproof construction to keep your feet dry.
And if you go for the premium silhouette style, it will feature a 50 per cent recycled PET mesh footbed cover for comfort, climate control and, crucially, a boost to your eco credentials.
