Pop quiz: How old do you have to be to use Tinder?
Just 13 years of age.
Don't get us started, or this story will descend into a Mumsnet-esque rant.
We should note that users aged between 13 and 17 aren't able to match with anyone aged 18 or over - but even such limited use is about to be axed.
After three years of matching the world's singletons, Tinder is finally changing its age policy, becoming an 'adult only' service, with Tinder VP of Communications Rosette Pambakian giving the following statement to TechCrunch:
On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections, we have the responsibility of constantly assessing our different user experiences. Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for under 18 users. We believe this is the best policy moving forward. This change will take effect next week.
Only three per cent of Tinder's users sit in the 13 to 17 age bracket, but hopefully the change in policy will see them get on with normal kid stuff - like setting fire to bus stops and modifying language to the point where no one aged over 23 has any idea what they're talking about.
