Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello has perfect comeback for fan who criticises him being 'political'
He picked on the wrong guy
In a list of ‘political’ musicians, 99% of people would name guitarist Tom Morello somewhere up the top.
If being part of a group called Rage Against the Machine, filming videos which shut down Wall Street, performing songs called ‘Take the Power Back’, and releasing albums called Evil Empire weren’t enough to give you a hint, then maybe images like this, taken at a gig by his current band Prophets of Rage, might give you a subtle clue:
Yet, somehow, somehow, one person - and there’s always one on the internet isn’t there? - managed to miss all this, and called Morello out on his Instagram for brandishing a guitar emblazoned with ‘FUCK TRUMP’ and a T-shirt reading ‘Mother, should I trust the government?’, writing: “Another successful musician instantly becomes a political expert.”
This was too good an opportunity for Morello to miss.
He replied to ‘davez67’, writing: “One does not have to be an honors grad in political science from Harvard University to recognize the unethical and inhuman nature of this administration but well, I happen to be an honors grad in political science from Harvard University so I can confirm that for you.”
ZING.
Naturally, Twitter found the whole thing hilarious.
