The ‘success’ of The Room was always going to open doors for Tommy Wiseau; it was just a matter of which doors and when.
The writer, director, financier and star of the best worst film ever saw his story brought to life in James Franco’s The Disaster Artist at the end of last year, and his new film Best F(r)iends is due to hit cinemas in a matter of weeks.
But that’s not the only thing he has been working on.
Wiseau teased a new project, entitled Scary Love, but it might not be all it seems.
The 30-second video gives off strong Blade Runner vibes, with a voiceover describing the scene as being ‘out of the rubble of a failed industrial world’.
Wiseau is not behind the camera this time, as he was with The Room. That honour goes to Jennifer Juniper Stratford.
Stratford has just one IMDb directorial credit to her name, the 2010 sci-fi TV series Multinauts, so this would be her feature-length debut… if it is indeed a feature film.
However, some have hinted that all might not be as it seems.
’Scary Love’ is the title of a single from California band The Neighbourhood, released last year and set to feature on their upcoming self-titled album.
The band shared Wiseau’s tweet about his new project, suggesting the mysterious actor may be starring in a music video rather than a fully-fledged film.
Best F(r)iends will be released in two parts, the first of which is due to hit cinemas on 30 March.
In the meantime, we can still get excited about the prospect of The Room getting a 3D re-release.
