You all know about Game Of Thrones don’t you? You all know about that. Biggest TV show in the world and everything - you know about Game Of Thrones.
But that aside, it’s not the only thing George R.R. Martin has ever written, he’s been rather busy over the years, didn’t you know? And one of the things he got done in his time was to write the 1980 novella Nightflyers, a horror sci-fi story set in space.
It’s already been adapted for the screen once, in 1987, as a movie called, well, Nightflyers, but it’s being done all over again, this time as a Netflix series, because everything is a Netflix series nowadays.
Martin describes the show as “Psycho in space”, which if you’re asking, is my kind of bag. Variety give a little bit more of a hint as to what we can expect:
“[The show] follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system in the hopes of contacting alien life. They travel aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other, and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.”
Here’s the first trailer (don’t wet yourselves, wimps!):
Yep, I’m in, and you should be too. You can find out just how ‘in’ you are when it hits Netflix later this year.
