Trim your pubic hair? Science claims you’ve probably got an STD
You're 80% more likely to have a sexually transmitted disease, new research suggests
Do you trim your man garden frequently? Then we might have some bad news for you, as new scientific research suggests that those who maintain their pubic region are 80% more likely to have an STD.
A research team from the University of California in San Francisco recently conducted a study asking 14,409 people about their private grooming habits, sexual history and their relationship with sexually transmitted diseases, with results showing that people who have styles such as a ‘Brazilian’ trim are four times more likely to be infected than those with a full amount of hair.
Nearly three quarters of the people who took part said they had trimmed in some sense in the past, 66% being men and 84% women, as well as 942 of the test subjects also saying they had contracted at least one of the listed STDs, which included gonorrhea, herpes, chlamydia and HIV.
It’s also suggested from the study that extreme groomers tend to be younger and had more sexual partners than those who groomed less.
But it’s not all bad news though, as pubic groomers were shown to be less likely to contract lice. So, y’know...silver lining.
In all seriousness though, stay safe out there. Read up on how you can get tested.
