It's a film about a TV show, so it makes sense to come full circle and take it back to the small screen.
Word reaches us that The Truman Show, the classic 1998 film, is to become a TV series. It's currently in development with Paramount's new TV division, which has a range of shows in the works, including a new crime drama inspired by Narc and a Terminator TV series. It has already hired Jason Fisher as the head of production - he comes across from AMC.
The original movie starred Jim Carrey as a man unaware that his whole life was being broadcast to the world as part of a hugely popular TV show. It preceded the likes of Big Brother and the subsequent spread of reality TV and it will be interesting to see how a new version attempts to deal with this. Perhaps Joey Essex will play the lead role (we really hope not).
