Here's what the cast of 'The US Office' have been up to since the end of the show
The gang have starred in some incredible films and TV shows since 2013
Today we heard the incredible news that NBC is reportedly bringing back The US Office. For fans of the show, the thought of returning to our favourite paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is the most perfect Christmas gift we could ever ask for.
Hopefully producers will be able to get the whole gang back together (or at least enough to keep it faithful) for the reboot of the classic sitcom.
And since 2013, when the show went off the air, the cast have starred in some major films and TV shows. Here’s what they’ve been up to in that time…
1. Steve Carell (Michael Scott)
Unfortunately, it looks like Steve Carell won’t be rejoining the cast for this reboot - and it’s not exactly surprising when you look at how his career has taken off. Since 2013, he’s put in incredible performances in blockbuster movies like Foxcatcher (which scored him an Oscar nomination) and 2015’s The Big Short (for which he bagged a Golden Globe nom).
2. John Krasinski (Jim Halpert)
John Krasinski, husband of British actress Emily Blunt, starred in the Michael Bay film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi in 2016 and in 2016’s The Hollars, which he also directed.
3. Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly-Halpert)
In 2016 Jenna Fischer starred in Steve Martin’s comedy play Meteor Shower and earlier this year she released her first book The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide, with an introduction by Steve Carell.
4. Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor)
Mindy Kaling is another one who’s become a major star since the end of The Office. As well as writing and producing the original NBC programme, she went on to create the Fox TV series The Mindy Project.
5. B. J. Novak (Ryan Howard)
B.J. Novak served as a consulting producer for Season 1 of The Mindy Project, with his close friend Mindy Kaling. And in 2015, it was announced that Novak and Kaling had signed a book deal worth a reported $7.5 million to write about their long friendship and relationship.
6. Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute)
Since the end of the show, Wilson has starred in the horror comedy Cooties, the thriller The Boy and TV crime-drama Backstrom. He also published an autobiography, The Bassoon King, in November 2015.
7. Ellie Kemper (Erin Hannon)
Since The Office, Kemper’s star has risen dramatically thanks to her starring role in the Tina Fey-penned Netflix comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which has scored her two Emmy nominations.
8. Craig Robinson (Darryl Philbin)
Robinson has put in hilarious performances in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Sausage Party since The Office – as well as a dramatic turn as Ray Heyworth in Mr. Robot.
9. Ed Helms (Andy Bernard)
Helms voiced the title role in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017) and is slated to star in the Naked Gun reboot.
10. Leslie David Baker (Stanley Hudson)
Since The Office, Baker has taken small parts in shows like Life in Pieces and Raven’s Home. But mostly he’s known for his absolutely incredible reaction gifs. Perfection!
11. Brian Baumgartner (Kevin Malone)
Baumgartner has been in TV shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Melissa & Joey and Scream Queens since 2013.
12. Kate Flannery (Meredith Palmer)
In 2016, Flannery starred in ABC’s American Housewife as Crossing Guard Sandy and she played a janitor in an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
13. Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin)
Since 2015, Kinsey has had a recurring role on Your Family or Mine and since 2016, she has appeared as Bethany in the Netflix Original Series Haters Back Off.
14. Oscar Nunez (Oscar Martinez)
In 2014, Nunez co-starred in the USA Network comedy series Benched and last year he appeared as a regular in the comedy series, People of Earth.
15. Phyllis Smith (Phyllis Lapin-Vance)
Since The Office, Smith has seen major success as Sadness in the film Inside Out – and she currently has a regular role on the Netflix series The OA.
16. Paul Lieberstein (Toby Flenderson)
Everyone’s favourite punching bag, Lieberstein also served as a writer and producer on The Office. Since 2013, he has worked on The Newsroom and Ghosted.
17. Creed Bratton (Creed Bratton)
Bratton has taken roles in shows like Grace and Frankie and Comedy Bang! Bang! since 2013.
