Poor old Ghost In The Shell – it’s had quite its fair share of stick of late, hasn’t it? It’s all stemming from the alleged ‘whitewashing’ of the main character – essentially, people were offended that they cast a white American actress (Scarlett Johansson) to play the main part in a remake of a Japanese property.
But hey, regardless of what you think about the whole thing, the film still looks pretty darn good, I rate. There have been a multitude of posters, trailers and clips released to whet the appetite, but now a really good, long hard look has been thrust upon us.
You can watch the first five minutes of the film, right here, right now, just below:
Oi, I don't know about you, but I think that looks the bee's bollocks, that does. The dog's knees. Lovely CGI, nicely choreographed action, cool robots, dazzling city vistas – sign me up, basically. There’s a bit of an iffy CGI-assisted jump after she’s crashed through the window which I’m not too keen on, which could mean bad things for the fight scenes later on, but you can’t have it all.
I’ll be sure to let you know what I think of it soon enough. Not that it matters though. I’m an idiot.
Ghost In The Shell is out in cinemas on the 31st March.
