By the time you read this it could well have been yanked from the internet faster than you can say “Jar Jar Binks ruined my life”, but for now at least, we have a leaked trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront II.
Following on from the fun but ultimately shallow series reboot in 2015, the game, which we were expecting to see for the first time at this weekend’s Star Wars Celebration in Florida, will expand the large-scale multiplayer battling ‘across all eras’.
The trailer also teases a single-player campaign, something that was disappointingly absent from its predecessor. We see an as-yet unnamed Imperial soldier –presumably the protagonist – watching on as the second Death Star is blown into a million pieces, which gives us some idea of where the story mode might set itself on the Star Wars timeline. “I still remember my last orders,” she says. “The day the real war began.”
Elsewhere in the brief teaser we catch a glimpse of Darth Maul and Yoda as they prepare to clash ‘sabers, and there are shots of canon newbies Rey and Kylo Ren. It could be quite the package.
Have a watch.
