Remember when Pixar's short Lava sprung onto the big screen in those innocent days before you had seen Inside Out? The premise was 'singing volcanoes', and if it didn't make your mum cry, you need a new mum.
But the musical volcano rom-com might have a basis in reality. Volcanoes, it turns out, can totally smile.
Don't believe us? Well you're a damn fool. Mick Kalber of Paradise Helicopters has filmed Hawaii's Kilauea volcano grinning its lava off inside its 80-foot crater.
According to the United States Geological Survey, Kilauea has been erupting continuously since 1983, with this current flow beginning on May 24. Fascinating, yes, but it does leave some questions.
Why is the volcano smiling? What does it know that we don't? Are we all about to die?
