Here are all the weird and funny moments from the FIFA World Cup final
That presentation ceremony was a chaotic, hilarious mess
It all came down to a final showdown between two European nations, France and Croatia. And in the end, a supreme French side came out on top as they claimed the biggest prize in football for the second time.
In a thrilling 4-2 final in Moscow, France roared to victory with stunning goals from Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe.
In France, the nation erupted in celebration and the streets of Paris were packed with revellers.
But this year’s World Cup final will also be remembered for some of the more bizarre antics that took place on the pitch and during the presentation ceremony. There are some of the weirdest and funniest moments…
1. Pussy Riot pitch invasion
Anti-Putin punk protest group Pussy Riot made their mark on the tournament by storming onto the pitch in the second half. Three men and a woman dressed in police uniforms interrupted the match, in a stunt witnessed by Russian president Vladimir Putin.
In a Twitter statement, the group called for political reforms and a clampdown on excessive police powers.
2. A reealllyyy long wait for the presentation ceremony
As the BBC pointed out, it took more than 20 minutes after the end of the match for the trophy to emerge from the tunnel, leaving the teams to stand awkwardly on the pitch awaiting the ceremony.

3. Only Putin gets a brolly
He can’t control the weather, but while the medals were being given out the skies above Moscow opened in what looked like a Biblical, torrential flood. What tickled many on Twitter, however, is that only Putin was given an umbrella, leaving the French President Emmanuel Macron and Croatia’s leader Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic to get absolutely soaked to the bone. It was quite a sight.
4. Everyone gets a hug!
Twitter also fell in love with Croatia’s president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic who took a moment with every single player, from both teams, and even consoled a devastated Luka Modrić.
5. YOU’RE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA!
And, finally, we came to the big moment… the camera shot of the winning French team triumphantly gathered together holding the gleaming World Cup trophy in the air.
But, in a final messed up moment, the camera’s view was obscured by men in suits walking past. Of course it was.
