We’re finally getting another ‘Bad Boys’ film with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence
The Bad Boys are back in town
The 1995 film Bad Boys, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, was a surprisingly funny and unexpectedly successful hit, taking more than $140million at the box office. And its 2003 sequel Bad Boys II wasn’t bad either.
And now fans of the franchise should be pretty excited to hear that there’s a third film already in the works with the two lead stars set to return.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is negotiating with the filmmaking team Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct Bad Boys For Life. And the movie’s set to begin filming this August.
Belgian filmakers Arbi and Fallah recently directed episodes of BBC crime drama Snowfall and their third feature Gangsta is due out this year.
This is pretty great news – and needless to say fans shared how much they’re looking forward to the new film.
Toya said: “They are actually going to do Bad Boys 3? I’m excited.”
LaMo B. added: “They coming out with a Bad Boys 3. I’m in there when it drop!”
This project has been a long time coming for Sony since its release in 1995 when it helped turn Smith into a global superstar and put Lawrence on the A-list as his partner.
Lawrence had previously cast doubt on the chances of another film, telling EW last year: “I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out. Will [Smith] is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.” But thankfully it looks like those problems have been ironed out.
And for fans of the original films, here’s a few clips to remind you just how amazing they were:
We are very, very excited.
