Details of Wes Anderson's next film have been revealed - and it's *very* Wes Anderson
It's going to have a very big name in the lead role
With Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wes Anderson firmly established his reputation as one of the finest – and quirkiest – directors of the 21st century.
He’s racked up fistfuls of Academy Award nominations and is consistently ranked in the top rung of modern directors.
So there’s no wonder there’s so much excitement about his upcoming film project.
According to reports, the director’s latest film is, excitingly, going to be a musical comedy. The movie will be set in the 1950s and take place in a fictional French city.
The film, which has reportedly has a budget of around $20 million, is set to begin shooting this November in the French city Angoulême.
“When he came in July, he asked if Angoulême had already been the subject of a full-fledged film, he really wants to make the location a character in his film, that’s why he was looking for a city with unevenness, stairs and preserved architecture,” a source told French newspaper Charente Libre.
And, according to the publication, the movie’s lead will star an Academy Award winner from within the past five years.
We don’t know exactly who this is but it could be anyone from Gary Oldman to Mahershala Ali to Lupita N’yongo to Cate Blanchett.
Basically, there’s not a dud in the bunch.
