This is the announcement all 'Westworld' fans have been waiting for
02 May 2018

We’re now knee-deep into season 2 of Westworld and things are getting real: we know more about where the park is, who survived the robot uprising (and who didn’t) and about the true intentions of the nefarious Delos Corporation.

And, in a development that’s sure to leave fans of the show hyperventilating from excitement, HBO have now confirmed Westworld is coming back for a third season.

“It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys said on Tuesday in a statement. “From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us.”

The first season proved to be a huge hit for the network, with around 13 million viewers per episode across all platforms. It also scored more than 20 Emmy nominations.

EVEN MORE WESTWORLD!!!!

And the Westworld cast were ridiculously excited about the announcement – especially Thandie Newton (Maeve), who came up with this joyfully over-the-top tweet, “Westworld got picked up for Season 3!!!!!!!!!!!! #ChaosTakesControl Congratulations everyone!!!!”

Ben Barnes (Logan) added: “INITIATE extreeeeeeemely delayed gratification protocol”.

And Jeffrey Wright (Bernard) went for an understated: “Done” while Ptolemy Slocum (who plays Sylvester, and yes that’s his real name) found the perfect gif to explain his excitement:

Westworld’s latest incarnation is the brainchild of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are executive producers along with with legendary film director J.J. Abrams.

Could this show have the longevity of other epic dramas like Game of Thrones and Lost? If they keep expanding the scope and size of the parks, then absolutely yes. And let’s hope we get even more Dolores and Maeve… they’re without doubt the best characters.
