Win this exclusive Iggy illustration by Mr Hyde’s new illustrator Nimura Daisuke
Iggy Pop once told us he’s worth a million prizes. Now, Mr Hyde is offering you the chance to own an exclusive illustration of this week’s ShortList cover star drawn by the daily email’s new illustrator, Numra Daisuke.
Accompanied by his Post Pop Depression collaborators Josh Homme, Matt Helders and Dean Fertita, it captures Iggy in all his topless glory. Daisuke tells us he once Iggy at Fuji Rock Festival in 1998, and “was shocked, nearly to the point of fear, by the unique performance.” Fortunately he’s overcome that fear to draw us this portrait.
Japanese artist Daisuke has been influenced by Manga illustrator Taiyo Matsumoto and painter Egon Schiele. He tells us the key to his acclaimed art is keeping things simple. “I try to reduce the number of lines to give a neat appearance,” he says.
We think you’ll agree he’s nailed that with his portrait of Iggy and the band – but you’ll have to head to Mr Hyde to see more of his work and find out how to win the piece here.
