Woman Steals Hash Brown To Get Lift Home From Police
Well, it's certainly cheaper than getting a cab.
A woman from Somerton in Somerset has admitted stealing food from a restaurant in Yeovil, so that police would be called and she could get a lift home.
A court heard how Darcy Phoenix, 35, went into the Real China restaurant after being kicked out of a nearby Wetherspoons for using abusive language and picked up two hash browns, worth around 40p, from the buffet table. She then ate them outside, knowing that the police would be called, and she would then be taken home. She made no attempt to leave the crime scene.
She has now been given an ASBO, and the court deemed that the three days that she'd spent in custody since her arrest was sufficient punishment for the crime.
If she'd stolen some chicken wings she might have been able to fly home instead.
