Yohji Yamamoto's new collection actually makes us want to wear a suit
We'll have one of everything, please
Splitting his time between Tokyo and Paris, the two best dressed cities in the world, tramping his way across the globe i) being cool, ii) looking cool, iii) making other people look cool for nearly half a century, the 73-year-old designer Yohji Yamamoto's only gone and done the impossible: in his new AW17 menswear collection, showcased yesterday at Paris Fashion Week, he's made a suiting that I actually want to wear.
Yes, it's of the extremely cool, you can't actually wear that to an office or people might think you're mad unless you already work in fashion and/or live in the future variety, but still, an extremely well-cut suiting range, full of weird shapes and flourishes - mad angular collars, asymmetrical hemming, long-line fronts, stencil slogans, big grey beards - is a yes from me. A big, bad-ass yes.
