How would you take on the pomp of House of Cards? The might of Man In A High Castle? The edgy cool of Narcos?
With a dance show! A "a heart-pounding, sexy, music-filled drama" about kids in a contemporary dance school.
Seriously? Fine, it's your call...
Unlikely though it might sound, this is exactly how YouTube is planning to take on the might of Netflix and Amazon, announcing that its first big budget online TV series commission will be a drama series based on Step Up.
YouTube is partnering with Lionsgate TV to create the show for its new Red subscription service - which is still yet to arrive in the UK. The film's original stars (now a married couple) Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum will executive produce the show, along with along with the film's producers Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Meredith Milton.
The Step Up show was announced by YouTube’s global head of original content Susanne Daniels at the Vidcon event in Anaheim, California.
Production on the new show will apparently start later this year. Google is still yet to announce when YouTube Red will arrive in the UK, so all keen dance fans are going to have to keep their fingers crossed. Or do a dance about it. Whatever helps you relax, you know?
