It's one of the most respected and acclaimed soundtracks to any film; but Radio 1's Zane Lowe is rescoring Drive with a host of new names.
The original soundtrack featured the likes of Chromatics and Kavinsky, with College & Electric Youth's A Real Hero attracting huge acclaim. Nonetheless, despite the film only coming out in 2011, it's the subject of a new project, entitled Radio 1 Rescores: Drive - Curated by Zane Lowe.
Drive's director Nicolas Winding Refn is supporting the project, which will air on BBC3 on October 30th. Baauer, Chvrches, Bastille, Laura Mvula, The 1975, Banks, Foals, Jon Hopkins, Bring Me The Horizon, SBTRKT, Eric Prydz, The Neighbourhood and ZCC (Biffy Clyro's Simon Neill) have all contributed original material, and apparently it's intended that you'll be able to switch between both versions of the soundtrack, although we're not entirely sure how that will work.
You can listen to Chvrches' effort and watch a short trailer below.
Will it improve upon the original? Will this be the first of many? We shall soon find out.
