09 February 2015
For most of us, turning the grand old age of 30 involves pretending you won’t miss your twenties, crying inside as you blow out candles and wishing estranged family still sent you cards with money inside.
Thankfully, we can’t imagine the bods at Nikelab had any of that in mind when they set about marking three decades of the Nike Dunk – something they appear to have achieved with real aplomb…
The Dunk Lux High, boasting memory foam tongue in the collar and tongue, as well as quilt-stitch detailing across the full-grain leather and a black edition, are a minimalist take on the classic shoe, stripping back superfluous layers previously added for the smoothest, cleanest look ever.
So clean, in fact, we’re not sure if we want to wear them or plonk them pride of place on our living room shelf, but that’s just us. If anyone would rather use them for their titular speciality (read: dunking), you’ll be pleased to know that once you’ve come back down from orbit, a Lunarlon insole will provide plenty of on-court cushioning.
The closest we’d ever get to dunking in a pair of these is submerging a chocolate digestive into boiling tea.
Available from 12 February, the Dunk Lux High will be at select Nikelab locations throughout the US; expect a UK release later in the year
