Still with us [insert eyes]? Good. Because it seems that emoji in certain areas of the world [insert various flags] differs wildly, and we think you should know about it...

Tech firm SwiftKey recently analysed over one billion pieces of emoji data globally, whittling it all down to see how 16 different languages and regions use emoji on both Android and iOS devices. Collected between October 2014 and January 2015, the subsequent findings have now been revealed.

We’re not sure certain tourist boards will be as keen to advertise the results though: Australia, for example, is a sun-baked land of debauchery according to the index, which scores the highest for alcohol (.80% vs a .41% global average) drugs (17% vs .11% avg), and even junk food.
