We’re still short a flying car or two, but it looks as if Back to the Future’s prophesised vision of 2015 is still on track.
First we had the self-tying Nike sneakers from the comedy sequel come true, and now here’s the world’s first hoverboard, currently looking for funding on Kickstarter.
US start-up Hendo has created a board which can float one inch above the floor thanks to its four disc-shaped hover engines which create a special magnetic field which pushes against itself and thus achieves levitation, as shown in the excellent video below.
Brilliantly, and as you can see from the video below, direction can be achieved by altering the projected force on the surface below, making us all a bit determined to help the crowd-funders of this world rally together and help smash the $250,000 goal which stands in the way of giving Hendo the money it needs to make this more than a half (pipe) dream.
Now somebody tell Mattel that the parts have finally arrived…
